Biography and artistic approach
Mostly living in Lac-Mégantic, Québec, since my birth, I recentlly moved to Wells, Maine, and enjoying the joyfull spirit of its summer style of vacation life. I worked as a nurse for many years before being attracted and fascinated by painting. As a child , book colouring and drawing opened my interest to visual arts and in 1982, I decided to enrol myself at an art course at the University of Québec. I successfully graduated and got my diploma in plastic arts.
Furtheron, I attended many workshops with canadian, french (overseas) and american masters. Althought interested by all possible mediums, at that time, watercolour seemed more in harmony with my temper and creative aspirations. Enjoying new challenges, watercolour and its complexities responded greatly to my tastes of transparency, tenderness and even adventure.
After a few years of solo work, I openned a workshop with local artists and for many seasons, either gave or attended courses always trying to renew myself and gain self-insurance in my art . I participated in numerous art shows and some of my paintings crossed the Atlantic ocean. Dourdan in France awarded me its public prize.
Today, as a result of many formations and workshops, I tend more to create abstract paintings, witch, by their multiple possibilities and sizes, are in harmony with my firm and adventurous desire to flee my comfort zones as an artist. I freely let my imagination explore the shapes and colours that can reveal my inner impulses or ‘’ coups de cœur ‘’.
Definitely a colourist, my palette always seduces me even before I ‘’ throw ‘’ myself in the creating process and the discovery at the same time of the ‘’ birth ‘’ of the new painting at every stroke of brush. It is as if my canvas started to talk to me , was inviting me and was dictating me the way to follow.
As for the spectator, he can freely let his interpretation capacity find a ‘’sense ‘’ and also, and most importantly, let his emotions live without restrain. In fact, the art work goes to the heart and he can harmonize the sensation to his own feelings. One has to love above all and no explanation is required.
My research and exploration in art evolves constantly and I anticipate with pleasure my creative tomorrows
